Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation seeks a Maintenance Program Engineer to oversee the maintenance program at the district level, including contract and permit administration, and to supervise multiple teams in District Two—Transportation Operations.

Knowledge of transportation engineering, contract administration, and ability to manage complex projects is required; registration as a Professional Engineer is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of transportation engineering principles and permitting procedures.
• Knowledge of contract administration and record keeping.
• Ability to administer and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering data, plans, specifications, design standards and maps.
• Ability to perform field inspections and evaluations.
• Ability to communicate technical engineering information verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work with the public, elected officials, and representatives.
• Proficiency with personal computers.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly advanced maintenance and transportation engineering duties, overseeing maintenance contracts, management systems, and permits.
• Directs and supervises the Permits, Contracts, and Maintenance Management Systems sections.
• Coordinates with department personnel, utilities, engineering consultants, developers, and other agencies to ensure compliance with laws and procedures.
• Oversees budget requests, monitors allocations, and manages the unit's budgets and purchasing activity.
• Leads Emergency Management Program and prepares contingency plans and response during emergencies.
• Directs and implements cost control programs and ensures quality assurance across unit operations.
