Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions in Texas is seeking an Operations Maintenance Manager to lead day-to-day production, safety, quality, and maintenance functions. You will direct front-line teams, coordinate across departments, manage shift performance, and drive continuous improvements in lean environments.

The role requires 5-10 years supervisory maintenance experience, experience with 6S and lean programs, and a solid understanding of ISO 9001 and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of supervisory and maintenance experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with 6S and lean programs; implementing or managing an Operating System (Black Belt certification a plus).
  • Experience in Lean environments and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and forecasts.
  • Solid understanding of ISO 9001 and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline leadership to a designated production team and manage safety, quality, efficiency, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate production activities with other departments and ensure adequate staffing for shifts.
  • Enter production data and maintain records; review and approve documentation.
  • Lead shift performance monitoring and start-up meetings; promote shop floor organization.
  • Drive cost-effective improvements to reduce downtime, overtime, and repair costs.
  • Direct operator-based maintenance and oversee tool inventory when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with large groups and influence teams to achieve goals.

Job Description

Summary: The Operations Maintenance Manager is responsible for front-line leadership in day-to-day operations of a designated production team to include safety, quality, efficiencies, plant maintenance, and meeting customer expectations. Provides overall direction to production floor employees in the areas of production, scheduling, performance management, training and other related areas striving to improve overall operational efficiencies.

  • Provides leadership and training to all employees.
  • Coordinates production activities with other departments.
  • Works with the operations team to ensure vacancies are covered.
  • Establishes and monitors shift performance.
  • Enters production data into system.
  • Updates communication boards and leads employee start-up meetings.
  • Works with other team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses. Implements cost-effective systems.
  • Promotes and maintains shop floor organization, plant housekeeping with employees.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for operators.
  • Direct operator-based maintenance as required.
  • May conduct tool store inventory reviews.
  • Prepares and reviews employees' worked hours for submission to payroll.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and attends all required meetings and trainings.
  • Review and approve documentation, reports, and records.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of supervisory and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent experience.
  • Experience with 6S, lean manufacturing programs implementing and/or managing an Operating System (Black Belt Certification a plus)
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
  • Self-directed team player with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work multiple shifts between 8-12 hours, more than 40 hours a week, travel and/or overnight stays.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Offer highest level of innovation and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to transfer information to large groups and/or influence others.
  • Have a solid understanding of manufacturing, production and maintenance, Quality systems (ISO 9001), and OSHA regulations.
  • Have exceptional reading comprehension, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use the internet/e-mail, internal manufacturing computer system, presentation, spreadsheet, and Word processing software.
  • Financial management, budgetary responsibility, forecasting/projections, etc.
  • Wear steel boots or composite toed shoes, safety glasses, work gloves, hearing protection, and resistant sleeves.
  • If driving is required in order to complete the essential functions of this position, a valid driver’s license is required.
