Job summary

ChampionX, now part of SLB, is seeking a Maintenance Procurement Representative in Sugar Land, TX to manage maintenance materials, procure services, and support plant reliability. The role emphasizes SAP/GEP data handling, supplier coordination, and adherence to purchasing policies to ensure material availability and cost control.

You will collaborate with maintenance, operations, and finance to optimize spend while maintaining safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, maintenance administration, supply chain, or manufacturing support.
  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or maintenance environments preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy with strong Excel proficiency.
  • Experience using SAP, GEP, or other ERP/procurement systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders for maintenance materials, equipment, and contracted services.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and support sourcing activities to ensure competitive pricing and timely procurement.
  • Expedite critical materials to support maintenance schedules, production requirements, and plant reliability.
  • Monitor purchase order status and resolve delivery issues to ensure material availability.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Coordinate with maintenance planners, supervisors, technicians, and operations personnel to identify material requirements for preventive, corrective, and turnaround maintenance activities.
  • Verify material availability for scheduled maintenance work and support emergency procurement efforts during equipment failures and unplanned outages.
  • Assist in coordinating contractor services and maintenance-related projects.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment of maintenance spare parts while maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate material master data, vendor information, and procurement records within SAP, GEP, or other business systems.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, inventory optimization initiatives, and the reduction of obsolete inventory while maintaining critical spare coverage.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and service providers while supporting supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery and coordinate resolution of supplier issues and discrepancies.
  • Track maintenance procurement expenditures and assist with budget tracking, cost reporting, invoice reconciliation, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
  • Maintain procurement records and documentation to support audits, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
  • Utilize SAP, GEP, and other business systems to process procurement transactions and maintain accurate purchasing information.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and external suppliers to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

What You Will Do:

  • Supports preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, capital projects, and turnaround activities
  • Ability to work additional hours or overtime as business needs require
  • Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, maintenance administration, supply chain, or manufacturing support
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or maintenance environment preferred
  • Basic computer application literacy, including Microsoft Office with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials and maintenance procurement processes
  • Understanding of purchasing, inventory management, and supplier management practices

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Physical Demands:

  • May be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout an office, warehouse, and manufacturing environment.
  • May occasionally be required to visit production and maintenance areas while wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods.
