Yora Nordic Spa - Brownstone in Portland, CT, is hiring a Maintenance & Pool Technician to join our founding team. You will help prepare pools, water-treatment systems and spa equipment for our November 2026 opening, ensuring a quiet, reliable guest experience.

This full-time, on-site role requires flexibility for mornings, evenings, weekends, and pre-opening shifts. You will monitor systems, perform preventative maintenance, document readings, and collaborate with housekeeping and facilities

Qualifications

• Experience in pool-operations or building maintenance is preferred.
• Knowledge of water-treatment, filtration and spa systems is an asset.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent credential is preferred, or willing to obtain.
• Strong attention to safety and maintenance documentation.

The Opportunity

The Maintenance & Pool Technician will be part of Yora's founding Maintenance and Pool Operations team. Working with the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, this role will help prepare pools, water-treatment systems, spa equipment and the physical environment to welcome Yora Nordic Spa's first guests in November 2026. This role is anticipated to start in late October 2026.

Through disciplined pool operations, preventative maintenance, timely repairs and constant attention to the physical environment, the Maintenance & Pool Technician creates the quiet reliability that allows guests to relax without thinking about how the spa works behind the scenes.

What You Will Do

• Test and document pool-water chemistry at required intervals and make adjustments within established procedures.


• Monitor filtration, circulation, chemical-delivery, heating and other pool systems throughout the shift.


• Monitor pools, saunas, steam rooms, mechanical equipment and assigned spa systems for safe and reliable operation.


• Complete assigned preventative maintenance, inspections, work orders and operating checklists accurately and on time.


• Perform routine repairs and maintenance within your training and authorized scope.


• Identify and promptly report equipment failures, hazards, unusual readings and issues requiring specialized technical support.


• Maintain safe and operationally ready pool decks, pathways, equipment areas and assigned outdoor spaces.


• Follow established procedures for pool-chemical handling, storage, testing and documentation.


• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, water-quality records, inspections and work-order documentation.


• Use tools, equipment, pool chemicals, maintenance supplies and replacement parts safely and responsibly.


• Complete technical work in occupied guest areas quietly, safely and with minimal disruption.


• Communicate water-quality concerns, equipment outages, maintenance activity and service interruptions clearly and promptly.


• Support emergency-response and facility-shutdown procedures when required.


• Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Housekeeping, Front Desk and other operating departments as priorities change.

What You Bring

• Previous pool-operations, facility-maintenance, hotel, spa, recreation or building-maintenance experience is preferred.


• Certified Pool Operator certification or an equivalent credential is preferred, or a willingness to obtain it.


• Knowledge of pool-water chemistry, filtration, circulation and mechanical systems is an asset.


• Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to develop new technical skills.


• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe operating practices.


• The ability to follow technical procedures, testing requirements and preventative-maintenance documentation accurately.


• Comfort using technology, work-order systems and monitoring equipment.


• The ability to safely handle pool chemicals, tools and maintenance equipment following training.


• Sound judgment, dependable follow-through and a professional, discreet approach when working around guests.

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position that requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays based on business and operational needs. Additional flexibility will be required during the pre-opening and opening periods and when responding to changing maintenance priorities, equipment issues, water-quality concerns and service interruptions.

Physical And Work Environment Requirements

This is an active position requiring work throughout indoor and outdoor spa areas, pools and water-treatment areas, mechanical rooms, equipment spaces, pathways and occupied guest areas. The role involves extended periods of standing and walking; climbing stairs; frequent bending, reaching, kneeling and crouching; pushing and pulling equipment; and lifting and carrying routine tools, parts, pool chemicals and maintenance materials. Employees work around pools, water-treatment chemicals, humidity, steam, mechanical and electrical equipment, changing temperatures, outdoor weather conditions, noise and wet or slippery surfaces. Work may require moving tools, equipment, chemicals and materials safely through occupied guest areas. Appropriate safety procedures and protective equipment must be used when required.
