Job summary

APEL Extrusions in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Maintenance Plumber / Pipefitter to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial piping systems, valves, pumps and related process equipment. This full-time role supports safe and reliable plant operations by diagnosing leaks, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and assisting with equipment modifications and projects.

You will read piping diagrams, work with the maintenance and operations teams, and ensure equipment remains safe

Qualifications

• Industrial plumbing and pipefitting experience within a maintenance context.
• Ability to read and interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, and instructions.
• Familiarity with pumps, valves, fittings, and fluid handling equipment.
• Experience with hand tools and basic welding, brazing, or soldering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair leaks in piping systems, fittings, valves, pumps and process equipment.
• Install, modify, and maintain industrial piping systems using approved materials and practices.
• Repair or replace manual, pneumatic, and electrically actuated valves.
• Troubleshoot pumps, regulators, strainers, and related mechanical equipment.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Plumber / Pipefitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial piping systems, valves, pumps, and related process equipment at APEL Extrusions' Phoenix, AZ manufacturing facility. This position supports safe and reliable plant operations by diagnosing and correcting leaks, replacing damaged components, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and assisting with equipment modifications, installations, and plant improvement projects. The Maintenance Plumber / Pipefitter will perform maintenance on utility and process systems throughout the facility and work closely with the maintenance and operations teams to ensure equipment and systems remain safe, functional, and reliable.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair leaks in piping systems, fittings, valves, pumps, tanks, and process equipment.


• Install, modify, and maintain industrial piping systems using approved materials and practices.


• Replace, rebuild, and repair manual, pneumatic, and electrically actuated valves.


• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, regulators, strainers, and associated mechanical equipment.


• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on utility and process systems.


• Read and interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, work instructions, and equipment manuals.


• Perform pipe cutting, threading, fitting, welding, brazing, soldering, and mechanical assembly as required.


• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and plant improvement projects.


• Complete maintenance work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs performed.


• Follow all company safety requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures and use of required personal protective equipment.


• Maintain clean and organized work areas.


• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Mechanical aptitude


• Experience in industrial plumbing, pipefitting, maintenance, or related trade.


• Knowledge of industrial piping systems, pumps, valves, fittings, and fluid handling equipment.


• Mechanical troubleshooting skills.


• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation.


• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.


• Basic welding, fabrication, brazing, or soldering experience preferred.


• Basic understanding of pneumatic systems and electrically actuated valves preferred.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
