Job summary

Nestlé USA in Wisconsin is seeking a Maintenance Planner to organize and plan maintenance jobs for a defined set of equipment. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, you will manage work orders, PMs, and parts, to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

You will coordinate with crafts, prepare BOMs, estimate costs, and generate performance reports (OEE/WEV). Proficiency with SAP, CMMS, and Excel is required, along with strong communication skills and attention to safety.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of maintenance planning experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor, this position will organize and plan all aspects of the maintenance department’s jobs pertaining to work orders and preventive maintenance for a given group of crafts, equipment, and/or areas of the plant.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Maintenance Planner will coordinate repairs, services, and overhauls of equipment for business unit. You will assist in the management of the MRO budget for the business unit, including reports, and will manage relationships with internal and external customers. You will organize and plan all aspects of maintenance department jobs for a given group of crafts (mechanical, electrical, welding, etc..). You will review work at job sites, develop bill of materials, and submit requests for ordering parts. You will prepare and analyze periodic reports relating to performance of: backlog of written work orders, routine operating tasks, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Enter and implement new PMs into the maintenance CMMS system (SAP), assign PMs, write and distribute work orders, and run reports of completed PMs and work orders. Assist in the preparation of equipment history as requested to assist in failure analysis vs. lines effectiveness. (OEE/WEV reports) Support planning labor hours regarding safety work orders and work orders related to sanitation as well as QCMS & QCDSM initiatives. This is done in order to maximize equipment reliability, minimize the potential for production interruptions, and minimize the total cost of parts procurement. Maintenance mission is to maximize time effectiveness at the lowest cost of maintenance. Assists the department in equipment history reporting, support failure analysis vs. lines effectiveness reports will show where re‑evaluation of PMs needs to take place. Reports also assure timely completion of jobs, delivery of goods, and meeting budget requirements.
  • Plans work orders. Works with maintenance and production management and individual maintenance associates to plan and schedule work through the following tasks:
    • Visits job site if necessary.
    • Develops Bill of Material (B.O.M.).
    • Estimates total work costs (parts and labor).
    • Sketches/drawings as required.
    • Facilitates part requests from maintenance associates.
    • Improves efficiencies of planning functions.
    • Analyzes job performance measures for continued improvement. (KPI’s)
  • Provides documented analysis of breakdown reports. Uses breakdown reports to recommend and implement corrective action, preventive/predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintains/improves the existing preventive maintenance program. Works with maintenance and production management, individual maintenance associates, and production associates to develop a detailed preventive maintenance program for all equipment. Maintains/improves/overhauls programs for assigned equipment.
  • Documents activities of the maintenance departments and reports maintenance status to production, quality, and sanitation departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager and Supervisor.
  • Compiles reports and work orders related to safety and sanitation.
  • Participates on process improvement teams and promotes teamwork.
  • Evaluates new or proposed equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment history as requested to support failure analysis vs. lines effectiveness. (OEE/WEV reports)
  • Directs activities of contractors as needed.
  • Teco’s finally confirmed orders daily/weekly in SAP system.
  • Assist in the proper facilitation/documentation of transferred/disposed assets in the property system for business unit.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Basic mechanical as well as electrical background
  • Able to organize, plan, and schedule jobs appropriately.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems (SAP) 3-5 years desired.
  • Advanced education or equivalent maintenance experience to possess technical literacy/comprehension.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills to communicate with all levels of management and plant personnel.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Power Point).
  • Customer focus & Understanding of Total Quality Management philosophies to facilitate change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Negotiation skills, ability to influence, and persuasion skills.
  • Analytical skills, decision‑making skills, problem solving ability to apply problem solving techniques and to execute plan effectively.
  • Understanding of Kraft contractor program.
  • Organizational skills to work under pressure and autonomously able to prioritize and re‑prioritize as business needs dictate.
