Job summary

Aurubis Richmond is seeking a Maintenance Planner – Outage Coordinator to drive outage planning, scheduling, and contractor coordination at our Augusta site. The role requires strong maintenance background, public safety awareness, and effective cross‑functional communication with internal teams and contractors.

Key responsibilities include developing work scopes, budgets, and timelines; leading outage meetings; and ensuring asset PMs and service reports are completed in SAP.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance planning or related field required.
• Industrial shut‑down planning and critical path scheduling experience.
• Contractor management, scope development and cost optimization.
• Strong understanding of maintenance principles and procedures.
• Familiarity with SAP or MS Project and related maintenance software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine major equipment and process work scopes, budgets and timelines.
• Create recurring and one-off contractor work scopes.
• Lead outage/turnaround planning meetings and set agendas.
• Facilitate post-outage critiques and lessons learned.
• Coordinate with corporate outage coordination and standardization efforts.
• Back up daily/weekly planner during vacations and absences.
• Produce detailed work plans including labor and materials.

Position

Maintenance Planner – Outage Coordinator

Your Profile

• Minimum of 4‑5 years of experience in maintenance planning or a related field.
• Industrial shut‑down planning experience – Critical Path Planning, Gantt Chart development.
• Contractor management, scope development, cost optimization.
• Strong understanding of maintenance principles, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of maintenance software and systems (SAP, Microsoft Project or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.

Physical Requirements

Willing and physically able to walk/work in a smelter environment, in intense heat and in varying conditions, including walking, standing, climbing, carrying up to 50 lbs. Require good coordination, 20/20 vision, and ability to respond to safety needs. Must wear required PPE and be able to travel domestically and/or internationally if requested.

Your Tasks

• Develop and refine major equipment and process work scopes, budgets and timelines.
• Develop recurring and one‑off contractor work scopes.
• Oversee outage/turn‑around planning meetings and agendas.
• Facilitate post‑outage and post‑critical job critiques.
• Interact with corporate outage coordination and standardization efforts.
• Back up daily/weekly planner during vacations and absences.
• Develop detailed work plans, including labor and material requirements; ensure work orders are complete and accurate.
• Maintain a major outage/shut‑down job‑plan library (preventive, predictive, corrective).
• Produce weekly maintenance work schedule.
• Educate stakeholders on maintenance workflow process.
• Work with warehouse staff to kit outage parts and materials.
• Ensure asset PMs are executed and service reports filed in SAP.
