Job summary

Nouryon in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Maintenance Planner to prepare and prioritize maintenance work orders, identify resources, and develop weekly schedules aligned with site priorities. You will coordinate with the Gatekeeper and Maintenance Supervisor and oversee contracted maintenance to ensure timely completion.

Role requires extensive industrial maintenance experience, strong planning skills, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Ability to plan, communicate, and execute maintenance jobs.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong safety background; OSHA PSM experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble job plan packages including permits, materials, work orders, drawings, etc.
• Create/modify job plans for efficiency and resource allocation.
• Review completed work orders for differences in planned vs actual hours.
• Create/modify maintenance related Standard Work Steps (SWS).
• Create/Update BOMs in SAP with Maintenance Supervisor.
• Review preventive maintenance orders for proper format, hours, resources and instructions.
• Field verify resource allocation and spare parts for planned work.
• Generate purchase requests for required materials.
• Coordinate with Gatekeeper on job scheduling and prioritization.
• Develop weekly maintenance schedule to balance labor resources and schedule compliance.
• Utilize SAP work order statuses for KPI reporting and tracking.
• Ensure awareness of critical preventive maintenance orders approaching due dates.
• Facilitate weekly scheduling meetings and daily communication with Gatekeeper and Supervisor.
• Distribute weekly schedule with work order packages to Maintenance Supervisor.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure materials availability and on-schedule delivery.
• Adjust schedules for backorders and report KPI-related to planning.

Overview

Maintenance Planner at Nouryon. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for preparing and prioritizing maintenance work orders, identifying required labor, materials, tools, and work instructions to support effective scheduling. The role involves developing and maintaining weekly maintenance schedules that align site priorities with available resources, and coordinating maintenance activities with the Gatekeeper and Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Planner also schedules and coordinates contracted maintenance work to ensure timely execution and completion of site maintenance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assemble job plan packages including permit requirements, materials, work orders, SWS, drawings, etc.
• Create/modify job plans for efficiency, resource allocation, and improvement on repetitive tasks.
• Review completed work orders for differences in planned versus actual hours to optimize planning.
• Create/modify maintenance related Standard Work Steps (SWS) where applicable.
• Create/Update Bill of Materials (BOMs) in SAP, working with Maintenance Supervisor.
• Review preventive maintenance orders (SAP plans, task lists, etc.) for proper format, hours, resources, work instruction and consistency.
• Field verify proper resource allocation and spare parts for planned work.
• Generate purchase requests for required materials in job execution.
• Coordinate with Gatekeeper on job scheduling and prioritization, adjusting for schedule breaks.
• Develop weekly maintenance schedule to balance labor resources and skill sets for schedule compliance and execution.
• Utilize SAP work order statuses to support KPI reporting and work order tracking.
• Ensure awareness of critical (ISO, PSM, etc.) preventive maintenance work orders approaching due date.
• Facilitate weekly scheduling meetings to finalize next week’s schedule.
• Communicate daily with Gatekeeper and Maintenance Supervisor to support scheduling meetings.
• Distribute weekly schedule with work order packages to Maintenance Supervisor.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure materials are available and on schedule.
• Adjust schedules for items on backorder and provide reporting KPI-related to maintenance planning and scheduling as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of industrial maintenance experience, including process equipment, utilities, and facility maintenance. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment and instrumentation.
• SAP experience is beneficial.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of personal computer software (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Ability to plan, communicate, and execute maintenance jobs.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task. Hands-on approach.
• Strong safety background; knowledge of Behavioral Based Safety is beneficial. OSHA PSM experience preferred.
• Physical demands: able to work in plant and office environments. Travel as required.
