Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Rocky Mount, VA, is seeking a Maintenance Planner to improve workforce productivity by planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment access. Prepares reports for management and tracks cost against budgets, supporting Cornerstone’s safety, integrity, and teamwork values.

The role requires strong planning, PM development, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, purchasing, storeroom, and maintenance

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience.
  • Knowledgeable in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CMMS.
  • TPM experience a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Strong Electrical/Mechanical aptitude.
  • Previous supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Effective communication and people management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive planning including but not limited to: Researching, Scoping of work, Estimating material and labor, Developing task instructions, Identifying tool and equipment requirements, Developing job material list.
  • PM and Standard Job Plan Development.
  • MRO Supply Chain Coordination: Stock management, purchase requisitions, stock reservations, pick ticket creation, storeroom support.
  • Coordinating with operations, purchasing, storeroom, maintenance personnel and management.
  • Manage rebuild parts program and budget forecasting.
  • Maintain understanding of customer expectations and quality costs.
  • Supervise work order system to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Participate with reliability teams on PM/PdM projects.
  • Work cross-functionally and collaboratively across activities.
  • Utilize maintenance strategies to prevent failures.

Job Description
Summary

Improve the maintenance work force productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment access. Prepares reports for management. Tracks and monitors cost and identifies variance to budgeted plans. Work with Cornerstone’s Core Values in mind: Safety, Integrity, Innovation and Teamwork.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive planning including but not limited to:
    • Researching
    • Scoping of work
    • Estimating of material and labor (internal and external) job requirements
    • Developing task instructions
    • Identifying tool and equipment requirements
    • Developing job material list
  • PM and Standard Job Plan Development
  • MRO Supply Chain Coordination
    • Stock management including determining items to stock and QOH
    • Creation of purchase requisitions for planned work
    • Creation of stock reservations for planned work
    • Pick Ticket creation for planned work
    • Assist Storeroom function in the kitting and staging of job material requirements
  • Coordinating with operations, purchasing, storeroom, maintenance personnel and maintenance management
  • Manage rebuild parts program
  • Manage reporting metrics including PM analysis, Break down analysis, and labor utilization analysis
  • Active participation on maintenance and repair budget forecasting and budget tracking
  • Maintain a solid understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
  • Supervise the work order system designed to establish priority and control over maintenance request from plant personnel. Ensures that work order requests are completed by the assigned deadline.
  • Participate with reliability teams on improvement projects particularly associated with Proactive Maintenance Plans (PM/PdM).
  • Work cross functionally and collaboratively in a wide range of activities.
  • Utilize maintenance strategies to eliminate failures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability for independent decision-making.
  • Must be flexible and responsive to the business needs.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience a plus, but not a requirement
  • Strong Electrical/Mechanical aptitude.
