Job summary

Dessert Holdings, the leading premium dessert company, is seeking a Maintenance Planner in Newburyport, MA. This role focuses on maintaining the Maintenance Planning system while ensuring reliability, maintainability, and productivity improvements across the plant.

The successful candidate will have industrial mechanical experience and proficiency in CMMS systems. Key responsibilities include creating maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with corporate standards, and supporting the Preventative Maintenance program.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years industrial mechanical experience or a minimum of a two-year technical degree.
  • Prior experience working with Master Data and CMMS systems.
  • Must be able to achieve HACCP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant standards align with corporate standards using the CMMS system.
  • Review all approved work orders ensuring completeness.
  • Create and publish the plant maintenance work plan weekly.

Maintenance Planner

Dessert Holdings is looking for a Maintenance Planner at our facility (formerly Dianne's Fine Desserts) in Newburyport, MA. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for owning the Maintenance, Planning and Scheduling system as part of the operations leadership team that is responsible for supporting and implementing change management and productivity improvements within the plant. This individual is responsible for leading maintenance standard work practices across the plant that ensure reliability, maintainability, and availability of plant resources with specific focus on overall deterioration losses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring plant standards are aligned to corporate standards, including utilizing CMMS system as intended and following master data standardization.
  • Review all incoming approved work orders and ensure that Safety, Material, People, Tools, When, Where, Information (SIMPTWWI) are included on all job plans.
  • Ensure all assets within the CMMS are maintained, and include BOMS, PMS and critical spare parts for each asset, including new assets being entered into CMMS.
  • Drive improvements in equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability by focusing on the plant's top losses and being an active participant in Daily Direction Setting meetings.
  • Accountable for spare parts process and ensure proper safety stock levels and maintenance strategies are aligned.
  • Create and publish the plant maintenance work plan for the week, including any standard plant stops.
  • Works collaboratively with Maintenance manager to set 30/90 actions to ensure key standard metrics are met and aligned with corporate standards.
  • Understand Quality Management Systems, including familiarity with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices.
  • Document all maintenance work activity within CMMS system.
  • Effectively support the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program with a goal of continually reducing unscheduled downtime.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years industrial mechanical experience or a minimum of a two-year technical degree.
  • Prior experience working with Master Data and CMMS systems.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge to identify component failure modes and counter‑measure preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to coach the maintenance team and leaders or changes to or creation of maintenance standards.
  • Must be able to achieve HACCP certification and complete required training for a forklift license within 90 days of hire.
  • Good verbal and written communication, and ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Prior experience with ovens, bakery and packaging equipment is preferred.
  • Must be able to move about the plant, stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting as required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends, as necessary.
