Job summary

SmartLam North America in Dothan, AL is seeking a Purchasing Agent – Maintenance to support plant operations by purchasing and managing maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and services.

You will work with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and approved vendors to ensure availability, control costs, and maintain accurate inventory records while following company policies.

The role requires strong organization, vendor relations, and the ability to prioritize urgent needs to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or purchasing coursework preferred.
• Experience in purchasing, inventory, or maintenance parts preferred.
• Experience purchasing MRO or industrial maintenance parts preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Purchase maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and services for plant ops.
• Process requisitions and create purchase orders per procedures.
• Obtain quotes, lead times, and pricing from vendors.
• Expedite urgent purchases to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and min/max levels.
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Production for correct parts.
