Job summary

KW Property Management is seeking a skilled painter to perform detailed interior and exterior painting for a resident property under the supervision of the Director of Engineering.

The role also entails basic maintenance tasks, moving items as needed, and keeping areas clean and aesthetically appealing. It requires physical work including climbing, lifting, and working in varying weather conditions, with emphasis on safety and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years general experience in painting and building trades or repair and replacement maintenance or handy-work.
• Must be able to read and understand instructions in English.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Position requires occasional exposure to the outdoor climate and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Apply paint to surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
• Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.
• Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
• Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
• Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
• Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs.
• Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
• Move furniture and equipment as necessary.
• Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
• Select and buy paint from vendors.
• Select quality brushes for painting.
• Apply several coats according to paint directions.
• Tape off areas when needed.
• Apply touch ups or second coats.
• Remove paint splatters when finished.
• Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.
• Utilize spray guns for large jobs.
• Complete all required forms and work orders.
• Perform casual labor, such as lifting/moving items as directed by supervisor.
• Routinely inspect common areas to ensure they are maintained clean and in an aesthetically appealing condition.
• Maintain assigned equipment in good working condition.
• Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment.
• Assist in maintaining records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
