Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Maintenance Operative to join Birchwood Grange Care Home in London, providing essential upkeep to the building and grounds and ensuring facilities are fully functional.

You will carry out general maintenance, assist new residents with room setups, manage routine redecorations, oversee supplies, and participate in on-call emergency duties, including occasional weekend work as required.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of general maintenance or handy person experience.
• Full driving licence.
• Knowledge of health and safety, including moving and handling techniques, fire safety and COSHH assessments.
• Able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs inside and outside the Home (electrical, plumbing, joinery).
• Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
• Ensuring regular redecorations are undertaken to maintain standards in the home.
• Advising on supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks and timely ordering of replacements.
• Providing out of hours emergency service and taking part in the on-call rota.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional. Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

• Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
• Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
• Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.

ABOUT YOU

• Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
• Hold a full driving licence.

• Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
