Job Summary

The Maintenance Operations Worker is responsible for maintaining and completing necessary repairs and updates to the facility and grounds. This position is responsible for the overall safe operation of maintenance equipment and vehicles in or around the facility as well as any off-site locations. This employee is responsible for ensuring that all company safety policies are always followed. In addition, the Maintenance Operations Worker performs other interior and exterior work assignments as directed by the Fleet and Facilities Manager.

Essential Functions:

Business

  • Perform assigned maintenance, service calls, janitorial duties and deliveries as needed.
  • Perform interior and exterior assignments including but not limited to:
    • Plumbing
    • Carpentry
    • Electrical
    • Maintenance of central heating and air conditioning systems
    • Snow removal
  • Maintain company standards with regards to housekeeping of fleet vehicles and work areas.
  • Ensure all safety and company policies and procedures are always adhered to.
  • Purchase necessary parts and materials to complete work requests.
  • Respond to emergency situations (i.e., snow removal) on an on-call basis, as needed.
  • Ensure that company property and equipment is properly utilized and maintained.
People

  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure that all service and preventive maintenance is done with minimal interruption to normal business and within a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the Fleet and Facilities Manager to ensure that all maintenance needs are met.
  • Resolve all customer service issues both internal and external in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the documentation of all accidents, incidents and injuries which occur in the maintenance department.

Self-Organization

  • Order and maintain proper inventory levels for all parts and equipment.
  • Maintain safe work routines while following all mandatory regulations.
  • Develop new and existing skills through company education programs and self-directed training.

Required Skills

  • HS diploma or GED with 3-5 years’ experience in the maintenance of building facilities and grounds, repair of structures, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, central heating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of building maintenance, repair methods, materials, tools, equipment, housekeeping, and janitorial tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervisor.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in the committed timeframe.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License.

Work Shift Requirements

  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
  • Must speak to supervisor to notify him/her any time prior to the beginning of work shift when calling in sick. Voice mail or e-mail messages are not acceptable replacements.
  • Required to wear company-issued apparel and safety personal protective equipment.
  • Safe use and maintenance of all company-issued equipment.

Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work safely and follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • For all on-the-job injuries or accidents, must notify the Safety Officer, supervisor, and Human Resources immediately (no later than 1 hour.)
  • Exposure to rain, snow, extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability to lift 165 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, reach, balance, and grasp.

Schedule

Monday - Friday full-time. There will be some different hours based on needs and snow removal and or emergencies when necessary.
