Description:
Seeking an industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility's equipment, including rotating and fixed equipment. The mechanic must be knowledgeable in the use of hand & power tools and operating certain mobile equipment. This position is also frequently called out to troubleshoot mechanical/equipment problems and perform unscheduled equipment repairs. Additional duties include identifying parts needed, maintaining equipment records, ensuring Maintenance history is accurate and entered into SAP, interfacing with the work planner on job instructions and estimates, and documenting work in procedures and instructions.
Key activities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform Corrective and Preventive Maintenance on fixed and rotating equipment, such as pumps, compressors, blowers, gearboxes, extruders, rotary feeders, hydraulic skids, heat exchangers, filters, etc.
- Good working proficiency on:
- Line opening, flange breaking, gasket replacement
- Bolting and torqueing
- Lubrication, Bearings, Couplings
- Precision measuring Tools
- Mechanical seals
- Equipment alignment
- Drill Press, Parts Washer, Grinder, sandblaster and band saw
- Specialty tools, like rams, wedges, spreaders, hydraulic torque guns, etc
- Utilize prints and plant documentation, and machine drawings in order to resolve problems or to rebuild equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair rotating equipment problems, assisting in the determination of root causes of equipment failures.
- Knowledge of PdM tasks, such as lubrication and vibration data collection, as needed.
- Assist planner as necessary to develop accurate millwright and multi-craft work plans.
- Search for WOs in SAP and identify parts needed to complete work.
- Develop Individual Development Plan and identify training and skill enhancing opportunities to allow for career progression.
- Document work performed in procedures and/or tablet as appropriate.
- Write and review maintenance procedures supported by maintenance engineer.
- Appropriately navigate tablet technology ensuring successful work execution and follow-up.
- Participate in Root Cause Investigations, as required.
- Be available for call outs on off hours and/or weekends, to support plant operations.
- Perform SMP tasks, such as APTs and ISCs, according to assignments in the team activity plan for the month.
- Record timekeeping data in tablet to be managed in SAP to register work order details.
- Utilize planner feedback transaction through tablet for planning improvements and learning opportunities.
- Share discoveries and learnings from day-to-day work with maintenance engineers to allow for reliability improvement initiatives.
- Ensure good housekeeping after completion of work.
- Ensure good housekeeping in the maintenance shop and tool room, ensuring all tools, rigging equipment, devices, and parts are properly maintained and available for future use.
- Act as leads on critical jobs or when working alongside contractors, as well as in specific events such as turnarounds, pit-stops, or unplanned outages.
- Keep up with training, certifications, mobile equipment licenses, and life-critical requirements.
Requirements:
- High School diploma.
- The successful candidate will preferably have 5 to 10 years of experience in rotating equipment maintenance within a chemical plant environment.
- Must have a strong personal safety philosophy, demonstrated troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
- Good organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and have a willingness to document details appropriately.
- The candidate must be willing to be called in on off shifts and/or weekends, to support plant operations, and work overtime when required.
- This position requires outdoor and indoor work, frequent walking, standing, climbing, and the ability to perform elevated work using portable ladders, scaffolding, and fall protection equipment.
- The position involves repetitive motion, stair climbing, and frequent lifting of weights up to 50 pounds.
- The successful candidate will be able to multitask, have good problem-solving skills, and good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be team-oriented with a strong spirit of service and willingness to learn and further develop technical skills.
- The candidate should be able to set priorities, be self-motivated, proactive, and foster good relationships with team members and service providers.
- Sense of urgency and ownership.
Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Experience with SAP.
- Knowledge of mobility tablet usage for work execution, planner feedback, and time confirmation.
- Training through a formal apprenticeship program or community colleges combined with on-the-job training.
- SMRP, NCCER, or equivalent certification.
- Equipment Operator certification.
- Extensive prior mechanical maintenance experience in a chemical plant.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills.
