Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Maintenance Mechanic at Tulsa, OK to diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and to perform alignment on rotating equipment. Qualifications

• Two year Associate degree in power plant technology, industrial technology, engineering technology or equivalent.
• Equivalent would include 2- years of military experience, or some post high school education plus two years of related industrial experience.
• Four years related work experience. Successful completion of the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose trouble, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Perform alignment on rotating equipment and other types of equipment. Use monitoring equipment such as vibration and thermal test equipment to assess equipment conditions.
• Erect and remove scaffolding, rigging and blocking if required. Prepare and maintain records as required. Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. If a welder, perform all position electric arc and oxyacetylene structural and pipe welding on equipment.
• Perform duties in accordance with AEP safety rules, operating instructions, clearance procedures, and all applicable environmental and safety rules and regulations and current practices. Train for and carry out assignments in firefighting, first aid and other emergency response programs as required. Perform other job duties as assigned.
