Job Description

Milne Fruit Products is seekingexperienced and motivated Maintenance Mechanics in Sunnyside, WA to repair, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial food processing machinery.Skills in boilers, refrigeration, electrical andcontrols,or PLCs are great, but not required.What we are really looking for is a mechanic with mechanical aptitude, the skills to troubleshoot problems, a positive attitude, and the desireto learn our equipment and expand their current skill set.We have several openings in different disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled maintenance activities including dismantling, assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment
  • Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using appropriate testing instruments (multi-tester, hydrometer, pressure gauges, etc.)
  • Responds to safety and security calls and enforces safety regulations and GMPs of the company, which includes the ability to smell ammonia
  • Supports environmental regulations and procedures to improve the wastestream and reduce or eliminate the production of toxic and hazardous waste
  • Maintains knowledge of technological advancement and developments in the fields of maintenance, forklift repair, electrical, refrigeration, or plumbing through continuing education programs as designated by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Additional training either through school or hands-on experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations; able to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments
  • Skilled working knowledge in the areas of plumbing, electrical, mechanical/engine, construction, or ammonia refrigeration equipment
  • Knowledge of the materials and tools used in these trades
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to interact well with and maintain positive relationships with others
  • Good math, language, reading and communication skills
  • Willing to follow all safety regulations and use PPEs when required due to potential workplace hazards in the processing plant
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and work at multiple heights
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record
  • Willing and able to work all three rotating shifts and required overtime/weekends
