Job summary

Basalite Building Products, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support plant operations with welding and machinery maintenance. You will perform daily PMs, install equipment, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, and coordinate parts with operators and supervision.

The role requires 5+ years in welding and machinery maintenance, plus experience with MIG and stick welding and basic PLC/VFD knowledge. A high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in welding and machinery maintenance.
  • Experience operating block machine and related equipment.
  • Weld with stick or MIG; oxy/acetylene torch usage.
  • PLC and VFD knowledge.
  • Good problem solving and math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily PMs and repairs on all equipment.
  • Install new equipment.
  • Determine parts needed for repairs.
  • Troubleshoot plant machinery.
  • Operate band saws, drill presses, grinders and other shop tools.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Attend safety meetings and follow safety rules.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent, thisposition supports the Plant in all areas of Maintenance and is responsible forsupporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect,Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs otherrelated duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs daily PM’s and repairs on all equipment
  • Performs installation of all new equipment
  • Able to determine parts needed for repairs
  • Able to communicate well with operators and management of daily needs
  • Fill out any reports of problems or parts ordering
  • Ability to properly operate band saws, drill presses, grinders and other shoptools
  • Keeps work area clean and organized
  • Troubleshoot issues with plant machinery
  • Repair molds and use appropriate setup procedures
  • Replace or repair bearings and related parts
  • Make minor wiring repairs
  • Create fabrications from drawings
  • Make repairs in precarious, high locations, and in enclosed areas
  • Must perform welding in various positions, locations and weld various typesof joints
  • Replace equipment parts with proper instructions and tools
  • Start or jog equipment to perform maintenance tasks
  • Order minor parts
  • Works with operators and supervisors to solve problem with machinery
  • Performs all maintenance on equipment and tools within the specified safetyrequirements
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by companyand governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions arereported and corrected
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able toperform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Experience - 5+ years in welding and machinery maintenance
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties
  • Able to weld with stick or MiG welders and run oxy/act torch
  • Requires basic reading, writing and mathematical skills
  • Able to verbally communicate effectively with peers, customers and superiors
  • Ability to operate block machine, cuber, loader, unloader, BECO, forklift andany other equipment required to perform duties
  • Good fabrication skills
  • Some PLC and VFD knowledge
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Good mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic trouble shooting skills
  • Familiar with chain and belt conveyor components
  • Forklift and some heavy equipment knowledge
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with handsand arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist; Lift and/or move up to 100pounds
  • Regular attendance is required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Plant environment with loud noise, and exposure to dust
  • Works in high precarious places
  • Works near moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures (non-weatherconditions), vibration
  • Wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Salary Range: $24.00 - $27.00 / Hour, DOE
