Manufacturing Mechanic Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

To construct, maintain and test production mechanic equipment.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.

1. Plan, lead and execute preventative maintenance (PM) according to PM schedule to minimize equipment downtime.
2. Maintain all production line machinery and equipment to manufacturers specifications; including reading and understanding all machine manuals.
3. Complete reactive maintenance on production lines to recover from equipment failures by repairing mechanical and structural components.
4. Repair, maintain, rebuild, operate & troubleshoot all mechanical equipment.
5. Adjust all equipment as needed.
6. Make all welding repairs.
7. Participate in special project work on equipment upgrades or installations.
8. Work with team members and operators to ensure the daily production schedule is met.
9. Communicate daily with Quality Control, Supervisors, and Machine Operators.
10. Report maintenance problems to supervisors verbally and with written follow-up.
11. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

1. Knowledge of machine shop, welding, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics & troubleshooting.
2. 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance field using high-speed manufacturing production equipment.
3. Flexible to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
4. Strong mechanical skills with Machinist/part fabrication experience is a must.
5. PLC experience is desired.
6. Solid computer skills including the use of Word and Excel.
7. Refrigeration Engineer’s License a plus.
8. Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
9. Ability to work independently or with a team and communicate effectively.
10. Able to lift, push, pull 60 lbs. as needed.
11. General Maintenance Tools (Brooms, Mops, Hand and Power Tools).
