The New Jewish Home, Sarah Neuman campus in Westchester, is currently seeking a Part Time Night/ Day Maintenance Mechanic to join their team!

Job Summary: Operates, maintains, and repairs the equipment and machinery throughout the facility. Assists in performing work to facilitate the necessary preventative, corrective, and cosmetic maintenance in order to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Observes and maintains the operating condition of the various machinery and equipment such as: boilers, air conditioning units, pumps, motors, fans, and fire alarm systems
  • Operates and maintains fire alarm system and fire suppression equipment.
  • Maintains a shift log of all temperatures, pressures, and liquid levels of the running machinery and equipment.
  • Reports all equipment malfunction/breakdown.
  • Performs any necessary work related to preventative, corrective, and cosmetic maintenance.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Utilizes power and hand tools.
  • Attends all necessary in – service training sessions including mandatory e-learning platform.
  • Completes and returns all requisitions by the end of the work day.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.
  • Specialized Skills and Competencies:
  • Safe equipment usage.
  • Startup and shutdown of boilers.
  • Operate and maintain fire alarm system.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate/GED required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak effectively.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in general maintenance mechanic work.
  • (Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry and Electrical).
  • Physical Demands:
  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs. Good manual dexterity, walking and bending.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch and crawl. Every other weekend
  • Sunday - 11:00 pm - 7:30 am
  • Monday - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Thursday - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
