Job summary

Dart Container’s Leola, PA facility seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to keep our plant and equipment running smoothly. You will install, diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of machines, supporting production and efficiency objectives.

Level 1–3 roles require increasing experience and skills, with training and advancement opportunities. A structured benefits package is offered including tuition reimbursement and safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of routine maintenance experience or equivalent trade training.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic problems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain PIT license.
  • Ability to read and follow basic blueprints, manuals, and schematics.
  • Level 2/3 requires more years of maintenance experience and advanced skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install, diagnose, maintain, modify, repair and rebuild plant and facility equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to detect and prevent equipment issues.
  • Assist production with change-overs and setups.
  • Dismantle defective machines to access problem areas or install parts.

What you’ll do…

  • Install, diagnose, analyze, maintain, modify, repair and/or rebuild a variety of plant and facility equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly and operate efficiently
  • Assist production personnel in change-over and set-ups
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas or to install new or repaired parts

What you’ll need...

Level 1 candidates must bring:

  • One (1) year experience performing routine maintenance and determining when maintenance is needed, or comparable experience with trade school or training
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial truck (PIT) license
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
  • Ability to read and follow basic blueprints, manuals, and mechanic and electrical schematics, preferred

In addition to the above, Level 2 candidates must bring:

  • Three (3) years’ experience performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, or comparable experience with trade school or training
  • Special knowledge in use of hand-tools andpower-tools
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot moderately complex problems
  • Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, temperature and pressure gauges
  • Proficient in reading and following basic blueprints, manuals, and mechanic and electrical schematics
  • Experience operating test equipment and/or software
  • Working knowledge of automated controls
  • Ability to operate Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), hoists and cranes, and maintain PIT certification

Level 3 candidates must bring:

  • Five (5) years’ experience performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, or comparable experience with trade school or training
  • Special knowledge in use of hand-tools, power-tools and specialized knowledge in lock-out tab\g-out (LOTO)and introductory electrical knowledge to include basic wiring principles and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, compare and investigate information, and recommend and implement resolution
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Advanced understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, temperature and pressure gauges
  • Understand manufacturing processes and able to inspect and repair or replace components
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to modify basic reports, documents and spreadsheets in MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Experience operating test equipment and/or software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and/or packaging industrial experience
  • Vocational, Technical or Associate Degree in Machine Tool, Machine Maintenance, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanics, Mechatronics Technology, Automation Controls, Robotics or related field
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical trades such as HVAC, PLC, and CNC
