Job summary

The Arc Rockland is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to care for Agency-owned buildings and leased properties. You will plan painting projects, perform minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs, and handle carpentry tasks as needed.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, 5 years in building operations with 2+ years in painting, and are comfortable with on-call weekend/evening shifts. A valid driver’s license is required, along with basic maintenance tools proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum experience: Five years in building operations in a maintenance capacity, with 2+ years in residential or commercial painting.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be available for emergency repairs and shared weekend and evening on call responsibilities.
• Must be proficient with basic tools used in the maintenance field.
• Good organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license and meet Agency driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Plans and schedules painting projects based on need through coordination with the programs.
• Performs minor repairs to plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems.
• Performs general carpentry tasks as required.
• Performs painting tasks as required.
• Removes and installs major appliances.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions on Agency facilities and equipment.
• Performs emergency repairs as they arise.
• Inspects and otherwise exercises control over repairs and alteration work performed by outside vendors.
• Serves as liaison to contractors.
• Performs snow removal and salting as required to all concrete and paved surfaces.
• Procures materials to complete repairs as needed.
• Analyzes maintenance issues and develops a solution to complete needed repair.
• Keeps records and makes oral and written reports of department activities.
• Keeps maintenance equipment clean, safe, and in operable condition.
• Keeps Agency vehicle in a neat and safe condition.
