McLaren Health Care Maintenance Technician

McLaren Health Care is a fully integrated health network committed to quality, evidence-based patient care with locations in Michigan and Indiana. McLaren operates Michigan’s largest network of cancer centers and providers, anchored by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of only 53 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, repairs, installs, adjusts, monitors, and maintains building HVAC/R, plumbing, and electrical systems. Performs skilled maintenance and repair tasks of hospital building systems to conform to quality standards and municipal codes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Troubleshoots electrical, electronic (including analog and digital), pneumatic, and mechanical equipment and systems.
  2. Performs operator and preventive maintenance as specified by manufacturers on equipment and systems, including electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical; varies preventive maintenance interval as dictated by monitored failure rate.
  3. Researches, interprets, and applies manufacturer’s technical data; reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications.
  4. Maintains appropriate work records for compliance with requirements imposed by entities such as The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, State-wide Healthcare Planning and Development Office, and National Fire Protection Agency.
  5. Completes work orders, records materials utilized on jobs, and other required documentation.
  6. May also perform general maintenance and repair tasks as required.
  7. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Working Knowledge of:

Operation, maintenance, and repair of various pumps, motors, centrifugal chillers, boilers, compressors, blowers, control valves, switches, and instruments related to HVAC, and digital and pneumatic control systems.

Instruments, tools, and equipment used in installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex hospital electrical, electronic, and mechanical building and utility systems.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Driving record within the approved insurance company’s regulations.
  • One year painting experience.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in healthcare industry.
  • Certification as a “Certified Healthcare Mechanic”.
