Job description

Darigold is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to join our Portland Plant team. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all plant equipment, ensuring smooth operations and supporting special projects within the plant. This position is represented by a bargaining agreement, which requires union membership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with boilers, air compressors, condensers, glycol systems, cooling towers, and wastewater systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electrical motors and controls, including VFDs.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot mechanical systems such as fans, conveyors, and gearboxes.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting fluid process equipment including pumps and valves.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. routinely, and to sit, stand, climb, or walk for extended periods.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance; experience with CMMS software is preferred.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent team, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and electronic communication tools.
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, millwright work, or related fields.
  • At least 3 years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience or instrumentation certification.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, controls, and instrumentation; knowledge of PPE requirements for arc flash-rated panels.
  • Formal education in a related technical field.
