Job summary

Purdue Fort Wayne is seeking two full-time, onsite Maintenance Mechanics in the Operations and Maintenance department. This position performs general maintenance and repairs buildings and equipment. The hourly pay is $18.50.

Responsibilities include handling daily work orders, plumbing, lighting, doors, LED conversions, and preventive maintenance. Rotating weekends and a MVR check are required. Purdue Fort Wayne offers strong benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to lift 25–50 pounds frequently.
  • Able to work at various heights on ladders/bucket trucks.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, lubricate, and adjust door hardware and hinges.

  • Diagnose and investigate leaks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building equipment.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs of assigned buildings and mechanical spaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • The ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull 25 to 50 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • The ability to work at various heights on ladder, bucket trucks, etc.
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
  • Rotating weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and preventive maintenance experience.
  • Commercial or industrial experience.
