Job summary

The ArcRockland is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to maintain, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on agency facilities and leased properties. The role requires standing expertise in building trades and knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Based in Valley Cottage, NY, this full-time position runs 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with on-call responsibilities including evenings and weekends. A high school diploma and proficiency with basic tools are required.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
At least five years of building operations experience in a maintenance capacity.
Extensive knowledge of building trades, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Must be available for emergency repairs and weekend/evening on-call.
Proficient with basic maintenance tools.
Good organizational skills and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Plans and conducts preventive maintenance on agency facilities and equipment.
Performs repairs to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Performs general carpentry and painting tasks as needed.
Inspects and oversees repairs done by outside vendors and liaises with contractors.
Performs snow removal and salting as required.
Procures materials, keeps records, and reports department activities.
Maintains safe, operable maintenance equipment and agency vehicles.
