Job summary

The Florida Department of Children and Families in Gainesville is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join the Maintenance Services team. The role covers plumbing, electrical, heating and refrigeration, carpentry and related repairs, with on-call rotation as needed.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of skilled trades, the ability to read blueprints, and at least two years of building, plumbing, electrical or mechanical maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment.
• Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or building trades can substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Locate, repair or replace plumbing problems including toilets, valves, and sewer lines.
• Repair or install electrical circuits, wiring and devices; maintain machinery and lighting.
• Repair or install heating, refrigeration and related controls; perform routine maintenance.
• Perform carpentry tasks such as doors, sheet rock, shelves and windows; general building upkeep.
• Serve in an on-call rotation and perform other related duties as assigned.
