Job summary

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support operation, maintenance, and repair of water diversion and delivery systems at a field location near Hamer, Idaho.

The role encompasses multi-trade work including building repairs, road maintenance, and weed control in Refuge areas. Responsibilities involve repairing vehicles and heavy equipment, reading blueprints, and performing safety-sensitive tasks while adhering to Federal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience performing maintenance, repair, construction, and troubleshooting across multiple trades.
• Experience maintaining and repairing vehicles, heavy equipment, and small engines.
• Ability to read and apply blueprints and technical instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provides support in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the large and complex water diversion and delivery systems.
• Performs repairs, preventative maintenance, operational checks, and troubleshooting problems with vehicles, heavy equipment and ATV/UTVs.
• Constructs, alters, modifies or repairs or repairs a wide range of features in buildings, quarters and other facilities.
• Maintains Refuge roads that include grading and snow/ice removal during adverse conditions.
• Sprays weeds in Refuge administration areas such as parking lots.
