Maintenance Mechanic - Manufacturing (Tech A)
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic - Manufacturing (Tech A) will play a key role in the preventive maintenance and reliability of printing and converting machines. This includes using mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot issues and using manuals, drawings, schematics, and vendor information to complete preventive maintenance and repairs. Collaboration with maintenance and production teams is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize safety in all maintenance activities.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager/Operations in establishing a culture of planned maintenance by performing preventive maintenance and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
- Use the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track work orders, record activities, and generate reports.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
- Perform repairs such as gear changes, calibrations, alignments, roll changes, and wiring of motors.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and dryer systems.
- Identify broken or worn components in machines.
- Proficient in stick, MIG, and TIG welding.
- Perform machining operations using a lathe, Bridgeport, or drill press.
- Work with computer/PLC machine controls.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience as a multi-craft manufacturing maintenance technician.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to interpret and convey troubleshooting, preventive, and predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Deep knowledge of electricity/electronics, controls, and mechanics.
- Ability to diagnose problems and implement corrective actions to restore equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, drawings, and policies.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, and safe work practices.
- Ability to work safely around active machinery and in noisy environments.
- Intermediate computer skills, including checking PLC inputs and outputs.
Work Environment:
- Use of hearing protection when required.
- Physical activities include squatting, climbing, stretching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work on feet for 8-12 hours on concrete floors.
- Visual and hearing acuity within normal limits.
