WCS Industries in North Branch, Minnesota, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic/Machinist for our 1st shift to be part of our growing company. Experience working in a 6S environment is essential. Ability to lift 50 lbs. is required.

Maintenance Mechanic/Machinist

Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining machinery, equipment, buildings, and facilities. The role requires broad maintenance skills such as mechanical repair, tool making, machine rebuilding, electrical circuits, PLC logic, welding, carpentry, fabrication, and HVAC concepts. The technician will respond to equipment downtime to ensure machines are operational, supporting production to meet customer specifications and delivery deadlines.

• Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production.
• Be flexible to prioritize urgent repairs when production equipment goes down.
• Diagnose and repair machine malfunctions both mechanically and electrically.
• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, PLC, and pneumatic systems using schematics.
• Manufacture or purchase components for repairs to keep equipment running smoothly.
• Rebuild machines and overhaul components, including dismantling, inspection, and machining.
• Assist with installation and relocation of machinery, including dismantling, leveling, fitting, and aligning.
• Perform maintenance on buildings, facilities, and grounds.
• Coordinate with outside contractors for repairs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment like washers and air compressors.
• Order parts from OEMs and suppliers.
• Assess machinery issues with expert sources and recommend solutions.
• Oversee preventive maintenance of HVAC, compressors, and electrical systems.
• Maintain maintenance logs and documentation.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met in the Maintenance Department.
• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proficiently sketch and create tooling/gauges using manual mills and lathes.
• Repair and manufacture tooling for machines and production.
• Use diagnostic tools such as ohm meters, gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
• Create simple PLC circuits, purchase components, and assemble circuits for equipment integration.
• Operate maintenance machining equipment including mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and drills.
• Fabricate components using maintenance equipment as needed.
• Thread on lathes is a plus.
