INTRODUCTION

This position is located in the District of Columbia National Guard (DCNG), Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO), District of Columbia Government Operations (DCGO). The mission of DCGO is to provide exceptional customer support to the DC National Guard, while serving the District and the community. “Working Together Towards Tomorrow”.

The position functions as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader responsible for providing team leadership to all Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Workers. The incumbent retrieves service requests, diagnoses problems, performs maintenance and repairs of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, and ensures timely completion of all service requests while maintaining a clean worksite.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Works alone or as part of a work crew, planning work assignments based on work orders, schedules, methods, and deadlines.
• Monitors maintenance work of technicians as directed by supervisors.
• Plans and layouts work using drawings, sketches, blueprints, and construction knowledge. Selects materials, measures, cuts, and installs structural and interior components.
• Performs electrical work including troubleshooting, replacing defective parts, and ensuring proper functioning of systems.
• Plans and executes plumbing and mechanical tasks based on blueprints and codes, ensuring proper installation and operation of solar heating/cooling units and related systems.
• Provides technical guidance and fabricates components as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of shop mathematics and skilled in using carpenter tools and measuring devices.
• Ability to work from sketches, blueprints, and instructions.
• Familiarity with and ability to operate carpentry and maintenance tools, as well as motor vehicle equipment.
• Ability to monitor job progress, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively in English.

Other Requirements

• This position is classified as “Safety Sensitive” and “Essential”.
• Requires reporting during emergencies, working overtime, and being available for emergency calls 24/7.
• Must obtain and maintain a CAC.

Licensure/Certifications

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
