Job summary

Greece Central School District is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II for Facility Operations. The role provides skilled trades work in masonry, carpentry, painting, and locksmith duties within a 12-month work year. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of related experience, plus a valid Class D license.

Salary is $21.00 per hour minimum under the Teamsters contract. Typical shifts run 6:00am–2:30pm, with 8.5 hours daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year skilled trade experience.
• Experience in electrical, mechanical, or construction trades.
• Additional experience may substitute for the high school diploma.
• Class D driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled work in masonry, carpentry, painting, or locksmith.
• Install, maintain, repair paneling, shelves, tiles, insulation, gutters, weather stripping.
• Mix and lay cement; plaster walls; masonry work.
• Make, install, repair and rebuild doors, windows, wood furniture and fixtures.
• Prepare paints and refinishes on surfaces.
• Repair and maintenance on roofs.
• Other Duties as Assigned

Civil Service Title: Maintenance Mechanic II

Minimum Requirements: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus one (1) year of experience as a skilled worker in one or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades.

NOTE: Additional experience may be substituted for the high school diploma on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

• Perform skilled work in one or more of the construction trades; masonry, carpentry, painting, or locksmith;
• Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds paneling, bulletin boards, shelves, ceiling & floor tiles, insulation, gutter systems and weather stripping;
• Mixes and lays cement and concrete for walks, steps, floors and foundations. Plasters walls, ceilings, cuts stone, lays brick and blocks. Performs a variety of masonry activities;
• Makes, assembles, installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds doors, windows, stairs, walls, floors, desks, chairs, cabinets, tables and other wood products, equipment and structures;
• Prepares paints and refinishes wood, metal and other surfaces;
• Repairs and maintenance on several types of roofs;
• Other Duties as Assigned
