Job Description
MISSION: To repair, overhaul, maintain, install, and modify equipment and facilities.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Maintenance and Repair
Objective: to maintain manufacturing and facilities' equipment in proper, efficient working order.
Essential Job Functions:
- Identifies and implements preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities.
- Repairs, overhauls, maintains, installs and fabricates modifications to equipment and facilities as required.
- Troubleshoots vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, induction heating, lubrication, abrasive and pressure cleaning systems and their components.
- Maintains machine tools and equipment used for maintenance.
Safety
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
Essential Job Functions:
- Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
- Safely operates all equipment and tools.
- Identifies and reports safety problems, corrects when possible.
- May be required to work with hazardous waste.
- Completes logs and records.
Other (Marginal) Accountabilities:
- Trains less skilled personnel as assigned.
- Performs other tasks as directed.
- May be required to participate in Hazardous Materials Spill Response team.
Essential Equipment, Vehicles, Tools, and Machinery Used:
- Basic hand tools (hammers, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
- Forklift
- Welding equipment
- Hoist
- Motorized cart
- Drill press
- Torches
- Saws (band or abrasive cut-off)
- Dimensional measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
- Trucks
- Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
Qualifications:
- Advanced skills demonstrated by four years journey-level work in relevant skills (e.g., plumbing, sheet metal, machinist, auto, welding, heating/venting, air conditioning, carpentry).
- Two years of trade school or apprenticeship training in an applicable skill set is preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow specifications on tech cards, work orders, repair manuals, blueprints, and drawings.
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to assist other departments with planning and technical assistance.
- Valid driver's license to operate PCC vehicles.
- Physical ability to perform essential job functions.
Additional Notes:
- Maintenance Mechanic II’s must supply their own basic hand tools.
- Potential contact with or handling of hazardous waste.
Respiratory Protection: Tasks may require use of NIOSH-approved respirators. Facial hair or items interfering with mask seal are not permitted.
