Job summary

UCAR is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II to perform installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of commercial and semi-industrial mechanical systems including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, boilers, hydronic systems, and related equipment across UCAR|NSF NCAR locations.

The role requires independently diagnosing complex mechanical problems, using Building Automation Systems for monitoring, and providing guidance to other maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of HVAC/mechanical training.
• Six years of journey-level mechanical maintenance experience in facilities.
• Experience with critical facility HVAC systems and BAS troubleshooting.
• EPA 608 certification and Colorado driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, boilers, and hydronic systems.
• Operate BAS platforms to monitor equipment, alarms, and trends; coordinate with other trades.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours emergencies.
• Document work, maintain records, and ensure safety compliance.
