The Maintenance Mechanic II performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in assigned facilities. This role may involve more complex assignments, including multiple systems or cross-departmental interactions, requiring specialized knowledge in locksmithing, HVAC, motors, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include repairing heating, lighting, cooling, plumbing, ventilation systems, installing and maintaining motors, and specialized equipment.

This position is located at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, West Bloomfield, MI.

Responsibilities

Mechanical System Maintenance and Repair – 80%

• Install, maintain, and repair equipment such as steam valves, traps, coils, radiators, water softeners, heaters, pumps, and related systems.
• Service and repair electric motors, heaters, coolers, refrigerators, and other equipment using various tools.
• Maintain and repair air compressors and HVAC equipment.
• Service appliances and maintain motor vehicles as needed.
• Maintain water treatment systems, diagnosing malfunctions with gauges and test instruments.
• Fabricate and test parts like pumps, valves, and laboratory equipment using fabrication tools and welding torches.
• Operate electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and heavy equipment safely.
• Install new or replacement equipment across various systems including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in boilers, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and other systems.
• Open, repair, and maintain locks, doors, and electronic interfaces to ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain records of keys and operate key duplication equipment.

Special Projects – 20%

• Participate in meetings, training, and seminars to improve skills and gather information.
• Assist in complex maintenance and repair projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have one or more of the following:

• Trade school graduation with 2 years' related experience.
• 4 years' related experience.
• Equivalent education or experience.
