The Maintenance Mechanic II performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical systems and equipment for assigned facilities. The Maintenance Mechanic II may be assigned more complex tasks involving multiple systems or cross-departmental interaction. Specialized knowledge in locksmith, HVAC, motors, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems is required.

This position is located at St. John Michigan Properties - Detroit, MI.

Responsibilities

Mechanical System Maintenance and Repair – 80%

• Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment such as steam valves, traps, coils, radiators, water softeners, heaters, pumps, motors, and related systems.
• Services and repairs appliances, motors, HVAC equipment, and other mechanical systems using appropriate tools.
• Maintains water treatment systems, fabricates parts, and operates heavy machinery safely.
• Performs electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and other maintenance tasks as needed.
• Installs and repairs locks, doors, and electronic access systems, maintaining key records.

Special Projects – 20%

• Participates in meetings, training, and seminars.
• Assists in complex maintenance projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have one or more of the following:

• Trade school graduate with 2 years related experience.
• 4 years related experience.
• Equivalent education or experience.
