Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving building systems and facility equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role requires a strong background in general maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical work, and facility repairs. The successful candidate will monitor office and facility buildings for existing or potential problems and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations and operational standards.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor office buildings and facility areas for existing or potential maintenance issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building mechanical systems, plumbing systems, HVAC systems, and other facility equipment.
- Utilize multiple trade skills including plumbing, electrical, painting, heating, cooling, and general building maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair facility equipment and systems to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Repair and maintain building infrastructure, including mechanical, plumbing, and related systems.
- Inspect completed work to ensure all repairs and maintenance activities meet established performance standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, county directives, and company safety policies related to building operations and maintenance work.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergency situations in a timely manner.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects as needed.
- Support facility operations through proactive identification and resolution of maintenance concerns.
- Ensures all work performed is done according to performance standards and contract requirements and inspects completed work for conformance to said specifications and standards.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three (3) years of general maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of:
- HVAC systems
- Plumbing systems
- Electrical systems
- Appliance repair
- Gas appliances
- Heating system repairs and replacements
- Ability to safely use industry-standard maintenance tools and equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
Preferred
- HVAC Certification.
- Experience with JCI Metasys Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Previous experience in an industrial, refinery, petrochemical, or manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a construction environment.
- Ability to use hands and arms for signaling, grasping, pushing, pulling, and operating equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairways, and work from elevated platforms and man lifts.
- May be required to work on open structures while utilizing appropriate fall protection equipment.
- Must possess good visual acuity and depth perception.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- Required to wear PPE, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, safety vests, and leather work boots.
Work Environment
- Outdoor industrial maintenance and construction environment.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- Moderate to high noise levels.
- Regular interaction with heavy equipment, cranes, forklifts, vehicles, tools, and construction personnel.
- Work may be performed at various elevations and in confined spaces.
