Position Summary
This position performs routine skilled maintenance work and assists in repairing buildings, machines, vehicles, and equipment including chemical equipment at water/wastewater treatment plants or pumping stations. Work is performed under direct supervision.

SALARY: MIN $17.04 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill set (includes benefits such as 24 days PTO, employer-paid health and life insurance, pension plan, and more).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Monitor and perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on buildings, machinery, and equipment, including process equipment like water pumps, digester equipment, boilers, high service pumps, valves, and storage tanks. Demonstrates knowledge of flows and process equipment.
  • Perform general grounds maintenance such as mowing, edging, weeding, digging, and operate related equipment. May perform housekeeping and janitorial services.
  • Assist with carpentry, painting, plumbing, grounds, and welding work. Demonstrate proper use and safe operation of hand and power tools.
  • Use O&M manuals, technical publications, and manufacturers' specifications for repairs. May assist with data entry into computer systems.
  • Maintain thorough process records and logs. Develop skills to utilize computer applications, including Microsoft Office, maintenance management systems, and cloud services.
  • Observe safety guidelines and security measures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including after-hours, as directed.
  • Participate in emergency on-call programs if required.
  • May need to use Air Respirator/SCBA depending on assignment.
  • Assist in handling and unloading chemicals safely.
  • This position is classified as essential personnel, required to report during emergencies or inclement weather when scheduled.

Work Leadership Responsibilities
This position does not regularly provide work leadership or personnel management.

Financial Responsibility
No significant financial responsibilities. May order supplies or create purchase requests with supervisor approval.

Qualifications

Education
High school diploma or GED.

Experience
One year of maintenance experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Texas driver's license. Water/Wastewater Treatment and Operator Licenses as required by TCEQ within specified timeframes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic math and computer skills. Ability to understand written and oral instructions, manuals, blueprints, and safety data sheets.

Guidance
Receives periodic supervision, follows guidelines and policies, and escalates issues as needed.

Physical Demands
Must pass a physical and ability assessment specific to this role.

Working Conditions
Exposure to weather, odors, noise, chemicals, gases, dust, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
