Description

Summary

This position is primarily responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and hydraulic equipment, machine tools, saws, forging and heat treat furnace equipment, forging equipment, closed die forging presses, manipulators & CNC machine mechanical issues with minimal supervision. It also involves installing upgrades and performing preventative and corrective maintenance to enhance operational uptime and equipment longevity.

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform various maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement tasks on plant equipment with limited guidance, supporting manufacturing operations in a teamwork-oriented environment. The role requires troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly, and completing machine repairs and rebuilds safely, professionally, and efficiently according to line-up and documentation.

Qualified candidates should have experience maintaining and troubleshooting heavy forging presses, manipulators, furnace combustion components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, filters, and cooling towers. Basic electrical knowledge for safe handling of industrial equipment is essential.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Hydraulic/Pneumatic / Millwright certifications are desirable
  • Extensive background in Forging Facility maintenance
  • CNC Machine Repair experience is a plus
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC troubleshooting skills
  • Welding/Cutting/fabrication experience for plant maintenance

Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of safe working practices
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Proficiency in writing reports and correspondence
  • Ability to interpret service manuals and use CMMS/E-Maint system
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Skills in fitting bearings, aligning gears, shafts, motors, and connecting components with precision
  • Ability to align and test equipment, perform predictive and operational procedures
  • Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Minimum welding and fabrication skills
  • Ability to foresee critical spare needs and coordinate with maintenance planners
  • Familiarity with industry safety regulations and machine repair standards

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair presses, manipulators, machine tools, saws, and other equipment, using schematics and safe techniques. Perform electrical work as needed, verify equipment functionality, and ensure a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC repairs as required.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, prioritize tasks to maximize uptime.
  • Maintain tools and utilize diagnostic devices to identify problems and ensure repairs meet industry standards.
  • Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs, suggest improvements.
  • Follow work instructions, update drawings, suggest spare parts, and perform repairs/rebuilds professionally.
  • Comply with all safety and governmental regulations.
  • Document maintenance work using CMMS/EMaint and MS Office.
  • Prepare and verify inventory reports periodically.
