Job summary

U.S. Silica in Lovelock, NV is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to repair and maintain plant machinery, equipment, structures, and facilities to keep production safe and efficient.

You will follow safety rules, perform preventive maintenance, work from drawings, and support senior mechanics as needed while contributing to a reliable, environmentally responsible operation. This role requires multitasking, cleanliness, and a strong safety record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
• High level of safety and quality.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, outdoors in all seasons, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms, and using hand tools.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
• Understanding of basic mechanical tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pneumatic and power tools).

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary.
• Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workers.
• Perform all tasks in an environmentally responsible manner.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Perform general maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Complete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, etc.).
• Uses typical mechanic's tools, equipment, and inspection gauges.
• Works from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches, and IFS work order systems.
• Uses shop math on a routine basis.
• Cleans debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipment.
• Operates production equipment as required.
• Functions as mechanic's helper when assigned to work with senior mechanics.
• Clean parts, tools and working area.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Work on-call as required.
• Additional duties as assigned.
