Maintenance Mechanic I - Mechanicsville, VA

Join our team as a Maintenance Mechanic I - Mechanicsville, VA at UNFI.

Job Overview:

Responsible for the prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of facilities, equipment, and company vehicles. Tasks include troubleshooting, record-keeping, equipment control, and maintaining grounds and parking areas. Ensure safe and operational equipment, and manage supplies and parts.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain and repair facilities, including plumbing and electrical systems.
  2. Maintain grounds, parking lots, and driveways; perform snow removal, re-key locks, and repair dock doors, epoxy floors, and racking.
  3. Recommend repairs or replacements for equipment, prioritizing schedules to minimize production disruptions.
  4. Conduct inspections and develop preventive maintenance schedules.
  5. Maintain inventory of spare parts and materials.
  6. Assist personnel and coordinate repairs with production schedules.
  7. Keep management informed of activities and issues.
  8. Perform duties following HACCP and SQF policies, as applicable.
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to read blueprints and manuals.
  • Knowledge of production functions, basic computer skills, and organization.
  • Understanding of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety guidelines.
  • At least two years of experience with electronics and mechanical equipment; machining and fabrication experience helpful.
  • Strong mechanical skills and proficiency with hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good judgment, especially when supervision is limited.
