Job description

Maintenance Mechanic I - Deer Creek (Portland, OR)

This role involves repairing, overhauling, maintaining, installing, and modifying equipment and facilities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Maintenance and Repair
    Objective: To maintain manufacturing and facilities' equipment in proper, efficient working order.
    Responsibilities include:
    • Identifying and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
    • Repairing, overhauling, maintaining, installing, and fabricating modifications to equipment and facilities.
    • Troubleshooting vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, induction heating, lubrication, abrasive, and pressure cleaning systems.
    • Maintaining machine tools and equipment used for maintenance.
  2. Safety
    Objective: Demonstrate safe work practices and responsibility.
    Responsibilities include:
    • Adhering to safety rules and operating equipment safely.
    • Reporting safety issues and correcting them when possible.
    • Working with hazardous waste as required.
  3. Record Keeping
    Completing logs and records as required.

OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Training less skilled personnel.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned.
  • Participating in Hazardous Materials Spill Response team if needed.

Equipment and Tools: Basic hand tools, forklift, welding equipment, hoist, motorized cart, drill press, torches, saws, measuring tools, trucks, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

Training: On-the-job training provided; may include hazardous materials handling, forklift safety certification, and hazardous waste management.

Qualifications: Four years of journey-level work in relevant skills (e.g., plumbing, sheet metal, machining, auto, welding, HVAC, carpentry) and two years of trade school or apprenticeship preferred, or equivalent experience. Must interpret technical documents, perform basic math, communicate effectively, work independently and in teams, and hold a valid driver's license. Physical ability required.

Note: Maintenance Mechanic II's must supply their own basic hand tools. Handling hazardous waste may be required.
