Job Title:

Maintenance Mechanic I

Job Summary:

Installs and repairs mechanical and electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and building equipment. Coordinates and completes preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, overhead doors, dock levelers, and other mechanical systems. Performs minor repairs on these systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operates and maintains fork trucks.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts.
  • Examines parts for imperfections and inspects used parts for dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective parts and installs new components.
  • Lubricates, oils, and cleans equipment per specifications.
  • Tests device performance and assists in electrical repairs.
  • Installs power supply wiring, conduit, and connects cables and wires.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and replaces faulty components.
  • Replaces motor bearings, aligns, shims, and rebuilds pumps and motors.
  • Assists in wiring layouts and electrical installations in buildings.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and maintains accurate paperwork.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensures shop cleanliness and organization.
Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma.
  • 10+ years of related experience and training, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and local license if applicable.
  • Fork truck and aerial lift certification.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and write reports.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks.
  • Ability to work in environments with mechanical and electrical hazards.
Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, walk, handle, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift up to 100 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

Exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, and various environmental conditions including noise, chemicals, and weather extremes. Safety precautions are essential.
