Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic – Join the Rescue Mission Team!

Shift: Monday – Friday, 1st shift
Salary: $20 - $25 per hour

The Rescue Mission is actively seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to join our dynamic team and ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our Main Campus. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our facilities, providing excellent customer service, and supporting a team that makes a positive impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Facility Maintenance & Upkeep: Perform repairs, maintain cleanliness, and ensure the facility meets Rescue Mission standards, including trash removal, window washing, and vacuuming.
2. Groundskeeping: Care for the grounds, including mowing, snow shoveling, raking, and maintaining irrigation systems, while ensuring safe conditions through snow removal and deicing.
3. Preventative Maintenance & Repairs: Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and equipment repairs to keep the facility running smoothly.
4. Project Execution & Leadership: Plan, execute, and complete maintenance projects; provide leadership and instructions to staff and volunteers.
5. Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean working environment by following all safety protocols, setting a positive example.
6. Team Collaboration & Communication: Develop effective communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and volunteers.
7. Documentation & Reporting: Complete necessary paperwork for maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements.
8. Mission Alignment & Attendance: Support the Rescue Mission’s mission, vision, and values; maintain regular, in-person attendance.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on maintenance experience.
• Valid NYS driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Compliance with safety standards and PPE usage.
• Participation in rotating on-call responsibilities.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with organizational skills.
• Adherence to CDC COVID-19 guidelines, including vaccination requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work with or without supervision, taking initiative.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical work.
• Proficiency with lawn and snow care equipment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow instructions and maintain high work standards.
