Primary Purpose

Responsible for basic and routine repair, preventive maintenance tasks, and maintenance documentation on various equipment throughout Parkland Health System, to ensure all equipment is safe and operational.

Minimum Specifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Experience:
  • Two years of experience in performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work preferred.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience:
  • None
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
  • Prefer a trade school certification
Required Tests for Placement:
  • N/A
Skills or Special Abilities:
  • Must demonstrate a basic working knowledge of proper safety procedures.
  • Must possess a basic working knowledge of plumbing and electrical maintenance, including lighting and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to properly use power and hand tools.
  • Basic skills in soldering copper pipes.
  • Effective communication with department and hospital personnel, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret sketches, drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.
Responsibilities
  1. Perform basic and routine repair, maintenance, and preventive work orders to ensure equipment safety and operability.
  2. Address facility issues and needs promptly through work requests.
  3. Take ownership of tasks, represent the Facilities/Engineering Services department positively, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  4. Assist staff with equipment use and repair, serving as a resource and providing relevant literature and information.
  5. Stay updated on industry developments through seminars, workshops, and reading materials, integrating new knowledge into work practices.
  6. Identify process improvements and recommend, implement, and monitor solutions to enhance performance and satisfaction.
  7. Maintain positive relationships with management, patients, staff, contractors, and vendors.
  8. Stay informed about applicable rules, regulations, policies, and laws, developing controls to ensure compliance.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
