Penn State Health is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at Hershey Medical Center. The position is full-time with an evening shift (4:00p–12:30a) and a $2.00/hour evening differential. Duties include preventative and predictive maintenance, and repairs across mechanical systems to ensure continuous operation.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, 1 year of repair experience, strong customer service, and the ability to read and follow technical instructions. Valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year hands-on experience in repair of stationary or mobile equipment.
• Customer service skills and strong communication abilities.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to read and follow instructions, read diagrams and schedules.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Pass written test and hands-on skills demonstration with 75%+ score.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and maintenance repairs on a wide variety of mechanical equipment and devices. Respond to emergency situations and calls throughout the facility. Perform minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry repairs required to maintain systems operation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Mechanical training and 1 year hands on job related experience in repair of stationary or mobile equipment required.

• Must have customer service skills and strong communication skills; and have initiative, ingenuity and drive to keep abreast of constantly changing technology.

• Must have a mechanical aptitude and computer knowledge.

• Must be able to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions; Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments; and use basic mathematics equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training.

• Valid Driver's License required.

• Must pass a written test and hands on skills demonstration with a minimum passing score of 75%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Five (5) years experience in mechanical repairs, including electrical and plumbing trades is preferred.

• Operation of tractors, forklifts, bucket trucks, high lifts and other types of equipment preferred.
