The TJX Companies, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service conveyor, sortation and related material handling equipment at our Las Vegas distribution center.

You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, install or modify equipment, and uphold safety standards in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in a technical field.
• Two+ years in industrial maintenance with preventative maintenance experience.
• Experience with materials handling systems and safety standards (OSHA/NFPA/NEC).

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machinery and electrical equipment including motors and hydraulics.
• Diagnose issues, troubleshoot, and perform installations per safety procedures.
• Inspect repairs and ensure proper operation of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
• Suggest improvements to equipment and procedures.
• Prepare requisitions for parts and coordinate with vendors.
• Mentor other maintenance staff and support safety programs.
• Perform general maintenance tasks in plumbing, carpentry, electrical work.

Job Description

Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all conveyor, sortation, and related material handling equipment; Heating, HVAC, plumbing and / or other specialized areas to ensure proper, safe and efficient mechanical / electrical operation within the Distribution Center. Install new or modify existing equipment or systems, and as necessary designs, fabricates and installs specialized equipment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical and / or electrical equipment to include motors, pumps, conveyers, hydraulics, electro- mechanical control systems, power equipment, safety devices, or other specialized equipment.
• Examine parts and equipment to diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repairs or installations in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Inspects completed repairs or installations.
• Maintains and repairs a variety of building operation systems to include plumbing, electrical, heating, refrigeration, sprinklers, etc.
• Recommend and implement improvements to equipment, operations and procedures.
• Prepare requisitions for new parts and equipment.
• May contact vendors for service or parts.
• Performs special projects or duties as assigned.
• May assist or guide other maintenance associates in preventative maintenance of equipment and / or safety procedures.
• Perform maintenance service in plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and minor construction.
• Certified on all Power Equipment Ex: forklift, boom lifts, scissor lifts etc.
• Problem solver and trouble shooting skills
• Proficient in Outlook, CMMS, IRIS, ICW a plus.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational training in a related technical field.
• State Licensure or proven Knowledge and experience in one or more areas (Electrical, Welding, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
• Two plus years experience in industrial maintenance field with demonstrated preventative maintenance.
• Experience in materials handling systems.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, basic math skills, a must.
• Familiarity with OSHA/NFPA/NEC standards to include the use and understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Must maintain safe work practices and housekeeping standards.
• Ability to grasp, bend, lift, or otherwise move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Work in various shifts to meet business needs as required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

This position does require a minimum of the following tools:

• All tools must be both standard and metric.
• 1 Socket, Wrench and 1 Allen Key set, 1 screwdriver set, 1 hammer and 1 plier set.
• 1 Electrical Multimeter.

WORK ENVIORNMENT

Frequent exposure to lubricants, chemical vapors, aerosols, and other physical demands requiring certain levels of tolerance for working in adverse conditions i.e., noise, dust, heat, weather, conditions is necessary.
