Join The Doe Fund in our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and recidivism. Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The organization has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, many of whom are graduates of our programs.

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Director of Facilities and is responsible for maintaining the physical, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections of the facility, log readings and conditions.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical work, and lock repairs.
  • Troubleshoot issues with heating and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain periodic maintenance schedules (PMs) on boilers, DHW systems, pumps, fans, refrigeration, air handlers, and related equipment.
  • Oversee and report on repairs and contracted work.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or Program Director.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Possesses a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Can perform tasks efficiently and professionally.
  • Has experience in building maintenance or related fields.
  • Must be available for emergency calls.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license.
