Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals and wiring diagrams.
  • Solid understanding of electronics and PLCs; capable of reading electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment with minimal downtime.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and complete work orders on schedule.
  • Maintain GMP compliance and safe working practices.
  • Train junior mechanics and maintain organized work areas.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

TheMaintenanceMechanic Bwillensure production equipment isoperatingsafely, reliably, and inoptimalmanner.This role willobserveall plant equipment withintentof recommending continuous equipment improvement and reliability. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other departmentleads,and processing team members,in order toaccomplishaccuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products.Thispositionexecutesprocessesthat ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting FosterPoultryFarms’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoot and repair all related plant equipmentin a timely mannerand with minimum downtime demonstrating urgency and accuracy.
  • Complete work orders, part requisitions, andpreventative maintenanceon time and on schedule with accuracy and excellent craftsmanship.
  • Encourage good safetypracticeand ensureGood Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)aremaintainedwithin the department and promote engagement and leadership.
  • Train mechanicswithinlower classification andmaintaina clean and safe wellorganizeworking environments for all.
  • Maintain a good working relationship and communication with all levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farmsare responsible forthe quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire isprovideda handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least onceperyear. Records aremaintainedreflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.

Physical Requirements

Qualified applicants must be able toperformthe following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to stand forup to 10 hourson a wet concrete floor
  • Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48degree) environment.
  • Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.
  • Must be able tosafelylift upto100lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-pacedwork environment.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend,kneel,and crouch/squat.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able tosubmitand pass a criminal background check, drug screen, andE-verify.
  • Must be able to read and writeEnglish.
  • Musthave reliable transportation.
  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Musthave a minimum of five (5) yearsof industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Mustbe about to perform basic math functions.
  • Must be able tocomprehendequipment manuals and instructions.
  • Must have a solid understanding of electronics and PLCs.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot andhave the ability toread electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Mustbe able to use welding and cutting equipment.
  • Must be capable of understanding electrical controls, wiringdevises, motor controls, VEFs, relay logic, and solid-state devices and controls.
  • Must be familiar with pumps, understand gear ratios,operatehave and power tools.
  • Must have a solid understanding of OSHA standards and guidelines.
  • Must have knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment functions.
  • Must havefabrication skills as well as mill and lathe knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.
  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits fortheircoworkers.
  • Must be able to safelyoperateforklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Must be able to passcompany Forklift assessments to obtain company issued Forkliftlicense.
  • Must wear companyprovidedPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE).
