Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled tasks in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, metal work, mechanical equipment repairs and adjustments.
• Provide general maintenance and routine repairs for HY AC systems and building infrastructure.
• Respond to emergencies during normal and non-working hours.
• Maintain organized and safe work areas and keep supervisor informed of status.

Job Summary

Performs all semi-skilled tasks, such as, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, metal work, mechanical equipment repairs and adjustments, grounds work, clean-up, painting, preventative maintenance and routine maintenance and repairs, service to HY AC, building repairs and upgrades.

Essential Functions

• Ability to use manual and power tools
• Performs duties in accordance with verbal or written instructions, plans, sketches and specifications
• Reporting on Maintenance forms, time and materials used, repairs in progress or completed
• Responds to emergency situations during normal and non-working hours such as storms, internal and external disasters, etc
• Obtain customer signature on completed repair forms
• Maintain work area in an organized, orderly, clean and safe fashion.
• Maintains full set of personal tools available at all times
• Performs assignments in a manner, which insures personal and patient safety
• Aware of safety precautions related to the variety of tasks performed
• Tasks are performed thoroughly with quality and minimum call back
• Performs assignments in an organized and productive manner
• Keeps supervisor informed of job status inventory and other relevant issues
• Cooperative, flexible and carries out orders in a conscientious manner
• Good attendance, prompt, adequate notice for time off

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to lift or maneuver 50lbs
• NYS Driver’s License Required
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and Carpentry
• Five years of experience semi-skilled technical work or craft, preferably in a hospital setting
• Ability to work independently and conscientiously with minimal supervision
• Trade School a plus.
